How to Choose the Right Chemical Protective Gloves

DID YOU KNOW: There are more than 60 MILLION registered chemicals, with many different chemicals and chemical mixes used in a typical production process or production facility.

That makes it incredible difficult to choose the right chemical protective glove for your application.

You need to choose between a number of properties, including materials, thicknesses and designs, to find the most suited protective gloves for your application. But there is no ‘perfect’ solution, no one glove that will meet all your needs. An element of compromise is required.

For example, barrier materials include nitrile rubber, polychlorprene (neoprene), butyl, Viton, natural rubber or vinyl (PVC), as well as lesser known, high resistance materials like LLDPE or PVA (polyvinylalcohol). While each of them can protect against a range of chemicals, they also have ‘weak points’ where they are less effective against some other chemicals.

In addition, workers may need other properties, such as high tactile gloves, enhanced grip or heat or cold protection depending on the task.

Finding a glove to meet all the requirements is virtually impossible.
