You'll notice we move things around in here quite a lot. This is because we are always looking to improve our service to you, the customer, whilst keeping you up to date with the world of personal protective equipment.

Q. I can't find exactly what I need in the catalogue - how do I locate it?

A. Use the search facility provided in the header of each page. You will need to use 3 or more characters, but partial word matched will be found.

Q. With reference to gloves what is meant by Breakthrough time?

A. The time taken by a chemical to pass through a barrier measured in minutes

Q. With reference to gloves what is meant by Permeation rate?

A. The rate that the chemical transmits through the glove after breakthrough. This is normally stated as Fast, Medium, or Slow.

Q. What is the difference between natural rubber and nitrile rubber?

A. Natural rubber comes from the sap of the rubber tree, whereas Nitrile rubber is a synthetic material. Both these materials offer chemical resiatance; essentially natural rubber protects against water based chemicals, and Nitrile rubber protects against oil based chemicals and solvents. It is always important to check for individual glove performance.

Q. What do the categories of protection mean under European PPE Directives?

A. There are three such categories - Simple design, Intermediate design, and Complex design. Simple design refers to circumstances were there is little or no risk of injury; Intermediate design refers to circumstances were there is a real risk of injury - this will cover the great majority of industrial instances; Complex design covers risk associated with life-threatening activities - for example the handling of highly corrosive chemicals or fire fighting.

Q. How can I select products and place an order?

A. Orders can be placed securely by adding your selections to your shopping basket and exiting via Checkout to the secure WORLDPAY payment server. Express Safety reserves the right to decline an order.

Q. How often do you deliver to my area?

A. We offer a next day service anywhere in the UK. We do make a charge for small orders (under £60) but we think that’s a better way than hiding it in the price of the goods, which would mean you pay carriage every time regardless of order value.

Q. How do I open an account?

A. We only accept payment by credit or debit card. To create an account, simply select the sign up form and enter your details. Signing up is fast, easy and free. If you don't have an account, you can still select items to purchase and you will be prompted at checkout to crate an account.

Q. Can I use credit card?

A. Yes, we can readily process all major Credit / Debit card transactions.

Q. What carriage charges may apply?

A. In order to maintain a clear view of costs and keep our prices low, we operate a simple system whereby orders with a nett value of under £60 carry a standard delivery charge of £5.99. We offer different deliery options, so please check delivery details in the left hand menu. All orders over £200 nett value are carriage free

Q. What is C.O.S.H.H.?

A. COSHH is the Control Of Substances Hazardous to Health. It is legislation aimed at protecting the health, safety and welfare of anyone working with any substance which can cause ill health effects. Typically these may be asthma, skin irritation, dermatitis, being overcome by fumes, and occuptational cancers.

Q. Can I get all my Safety Equipment requirements from Express Safety

A. Yes. We provide a comprehensive range of workwear, corporate clothing, hand protection, footwear, weather wear, safety equipment and welfare products to give our customers the benefit of single source supply.

Q. What is your returns policy?

A. Please see our terms, item no. 16

Q. What does “200 Joule toecap” mean on Safety Footwear?

A. Where a “Joule” is stated in the safety footwear descriptions is a measurement of pressure resistance from falling objects, which complies with EN 345.

Q. Do you use Google Checkout?

A. Yes we do. You need to select Google Checkout when you are ready to check out. Please note, you will need a Google account or will have to set one up to use this facility.
